Maintenance Assistance

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Working within a campus based setting or community residence under the general supervision of a journeyman level tradesman, performs semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on structures and equipment in any number of skilled labor trades, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry and electrical. Typically, the incumbent will be performing more routine repetitive maintenance tasks in the maintenance repair field. Incumbent performs journey level activities under supervision or after receiving detailed instructions. Perform grounds and snow and ice removal as assigned when necessary.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
o Plan, and lay out construction, repair and maintenance projects. o Performs semi-skilled carpentry projects to include, door repairs, floor tile repairs and installation. o Repairs, installs and adjusts locks, door closures, hinges, and other hardware. o Install glass in windows, doors and partitions. o Build, repairs, and installs cabinets, book cases, shelving. o Erect wall partitions. o Assists in painting and prep work as may be required. o May perform routine tasks in the electrical trade as may be asked, to include but not limited to lighting installations, switches and receptacles. o May perform semi-skilled masonry repairs and installations. o Perform minor plumbing tasks with supervision or direction. o Requires daily travel within the district. o May require some travel within NY State to assist other districts with special projects. o Performs preventative maintenance tasks as assigned on equipment and systems. o Performs grounds work and snow removal as assigned.

Salary Range:
From $36772 to $45200 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Two years of experience in a maintenance trade under the supervision of a skilled trades worker or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course in carpentry. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
o Working knowledge of safety standards and procedures. o Working knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the trades assigned. o Knowledge of applicable residential building codes. o Knowledge in reading and interpretation of plans o Candidate will be trained in the operation and maintenance procedures as related to Asbestos Containing Materials. o Basic computer skills preferred. o Valid NYS Driver's License.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
