Description:
Duties will include
Assist the System team with various ongoing tasks, including but not limited to:
Install, upgrade and maintain OpenVMS on Alpha and Integrity servers.
Setup and monitor backup processes and establish restore procedures.
Allocating storage for HP OpenVMS, Windows and UNIX systems as requested, assist in planning of future storage requirements for OpenVMS.
Work with teams of application programmers, database architects to create solutions to meet business goals.
Perform off-hours (evening or weekend work) as needed for maintenance tasks or emergency needs.;
Provide support for internal users and external data exchange partners;
Perform optimization and tuning activities, including capacity planning, tracking historical usage, trending future resource needs, and modifying resource allocations as needed;
Provide recommendations on technical architecture.
Perform enhancements to Open VMS operating system security in regards to Agency and NYS Office of Cyber Security requirements.
Assist and support for ITS Data Center Consolidation efforts in regard to identifying and implementing infrastructure changes necessary.

months experience performing administration on OpenVMS 8.4 clusters on Integrity Servers and Alpha servers
36
months experience administering enterprise storage utilizing director switches and xp24000 hardware.
84
months experience managing OpenVMS backup software (TapeSys) including Juke Box and HP's MRU and HP's Business Copy along with disaster recovery procedures.

months experience installing, configuring and administering OpenVMS utilities including SSH, SSL, NTP, Defrag Utility, DecNet Phase V and UniCenter Monitoring Tools.

months installing and maintaining Open VMS on Integrity blade servers

months programming experience with Digital Command Language (DCL).

months experience installing, configuring and administering web servers on Open VMS platforms.
